Hillary Clinton's Contempt For the American Voter
When Hillary Clinton was pressed on whether she wiped her e-mail server before turning it over to the State Department the best response she could muster was, "Like with a cloth or something?" While on the one hand claiming to be the official in charge of the server, and using her own discretion as to what to turn over for investigation, she is also claiming that she has no idea what wiping the server means and that she doesn't "know how it works digitally."
It's rare to see a politician so brazen in their contempt for the people they want to win over, but Hillary's 2016 Presidential campaign almost seems to be a dare to the people who rejected her in 2008 to try again. What is her response to being investigated by the FBI on a federal offense? To make up some nonsense about not knowing what wiping a server means and then to openly laugh about it. Simply put she does not care. She knows she will never be held to account legally, regardless of whether she's guilty, and she knows that voters will not be swayed by this one way or another.
Certainly those already opposed to her candidacy will try to use this issue to attack her, but she knows that very few supporters or people on the fence will even consider her alleged lawlessness whatsoever. She knows that she can openly spit in their face and laugh about it and they will think nothing of it.
H. L. Mencken said, "No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby." Hillary Clinton is basing her entire campaign on him being right, and she'll be none the worse off for it.
