Meta Confirms it Censored the Biden Regime's Political Opponents
Addiction and propaganda platforms like Facebook and Instagram should not exist
Mark Zuckerberg, one of the creators of Facebook and CEO of its parent company, Meta, confirms that Meta censored content on its platforms on behalf of the Biden regime and the Democratic Party, while also, somehow, claiming that its moderation is neutral and impartial. A letter from Zuckerberg was posted to X by the GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee, and can be read in full at that link or at the bottom of this post with some choice excerpts quoted here.
In 2021, senior officials from the Biden Administration, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire, and expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree. Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure. I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it. I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn’t make today…
In a separate situation, the FBI warned us about a potential Russian disinformation operation about the Biden family and Burisma in the lead up to the 2020 election. That fall, when we saw a New York Post story reporting on corruption allegations involving then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s family, we sent that story to fact-checkers for review and temporarily demoted it while waiting for a reply. It’s since been made clear that the reporting was not Russian disinformation, and in retrospect, we shouldn’t have demoted the story.
All this, despite the fact that, as CNN points out:
In a 2020 Senate hearing, Zuckerberg acknowledged that many of Facebook’s employees are left-leaning. But he held that the company takes care not to allow political bias to seep into decisions.
Zuckerberg claimed before that Meta doesn’t allow “political bias to seep into decisions,” while confirming here that they explicitly allowed political bias to seep into their decisions. Oh, but they’ve put processes in place so that it doesn’t happen again. This is not a person to be taken seriously.
There has been a lot of reporting showing that the federal government was pressuring social media companies like Meta and Twitter to censor content that was politically inconvenient for Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, so nothing that Zuckerberg says here is particularly revelatory, but it is worth highlighting. Meta is a company that, in my opinion, should not exist. It uses people and their private information and data as commodities to be sold to other companies, and then has the nerve to turn around and try to propagandize those people it treats like trash. Not to mention that Instagram, another platform in the Meta umbrella, is highly linked to increased depression in children, especially young girls. Why anyone would continue to use these platforms that are purposely designed to get us all addicted to them, that cause our children to develop depression, that use us as commodities to be sold to other big corporations, and that then turn around and propagandize us in favor of their preferred political party. People like Mark Zuckerberg are unworthy of having any influence in this country.
