Non-Intervention Is Never on the Ballot in America
Neither the Republican nor the Democratic nominee will change anything about the massive, escalating conflicts the U.S. is involved in in Israel and Ukraine

The regional war in the Middle East has been escalating ever since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, with Israel now claiming to have killed a commander of Hezbollah in a strike within Lebanon, and now possibly being responsible for the assassination of a senior Hamas figure in the capital city of Iran. Whatever your thoughts on this conflict and Israel’s actions, the actions of Hezbollah, or Iran, one unarguable fact is that Americans have no real option in the 2024 election to choose a different path for America’s role in that conflict.
The Biden regime has tried to portray Vice President Kamala Harris, who is not the Democratic Party nominee as of yet, as being sympathetic to the plight of Palestinian civilians caught in a war zone, while continuing to fund and arm Israel as they destroy the Gaza Strip without condition. So while she would continue the mealymouthed Biden policy of expressing regret and calling for ceasefires, she would also continue their policy of giving Israel whatever it asks for and allowing them to do whatever they want with American money and weapons. The only difference between Harris and Donald Trump would be that Trump would openly cheer for Israel as he continues to give them whatever they want without condition.
For those of us in the United States who believe that if Israel wants to destroy the Gaza Strip and go to war with Lebanon and Iran that they should do so without American taxpayer dollars or American taxpayer funded weapons, and without the implicit or explicit support of the U.S. government, neither Harris nor Trump represents a real choice. The Libertarian Party nominee, Chase Oliver, says on his website that he would “End aid being directed to nation-states currently at war. This includes Israel and Ukraine,” he has no chance of even being remotely competitive in a single state let alone winning the election. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., running as an independent and likely to come third in the election to Trump and the Democratic nominee, says on his website that he wants to “End the Forever Wars,” but has also expressed his support for Israel since October 7th and that page on his website does not mention Israel at all. Regardless, he is also not going to win the election even if he was willing to end American welfare for Israel.
As ever, the 2024 election does not offer the American people a real choice in terms of the foreign policy of the United States government, which is the primary role of the president per the U.S. Constitution. While there may be differences around the edges between the policies of Donald Trump and whoever the Democratic Party nominates, the fundamental, imperial aspect of U.S. foreign policy will remain unchanged as it was when Trump was president previously and as it is under his immediate successor, President Biden. The American people never get to vote for a real change in America’s foreign policy as it makes us poorer and less safe in the world.
