The Associated Press Reaps What it has Sowed
The corporate media believes that President Trump should continue to give them direct access to him while they try to undermine and destroy him
The Trump regime has banned the Associated Press from the Oval Office, which, apparently, constitutes some censorship of the press. At least, if you listen to the AP and the rest of the corporate media. From CNN:
[Blocking] the AP from what are known as “pooled” events, such as Air Force One flights, interferes with the news outlet’s ability to do its job.
The “press pool” travels with the president at all times and shares information with the wider press corps. The AP is so foundational to White House coverage that it helped create the pool in the first place.
I would argue that having a physical presence in the Oval Office or Air Force One, or the Press Briefing Room, is actually harmful to actual journalism and reporting, as being spoon-fed obvious propaganda and spin directly from the source and then regurgitating it verbatim is lazy and of no value to the American people, and should cause those outlets and reporters to be embarrassed. That said, if it’s censorship for the AP to lose some of their access to the regime, then why is it not censorship for someone like
of Racket News to have never been granted that access? What about or ? ? The Oval Office and Air Force One have finite space, so what objective criteria are we using to determine when inviting a given journalist or media outlet over another is censorship? If it’s by size of audience then obviously the AP is bigger than anyone I listed, but if we’re going by quality of journalism then everybody I listed is far more qualified than the AP to be in those spaces and has been for a long time.I don’t personally care if the Associated Press continues referring to the Gulf of Mexico rather than the Gulf of America, but I also don’t care if they’re given access to President Trump directly either. The president and their regime refusing to engage with a media outlet is not censorship as the countless number of journalists and media outlets that have never had direct access to any president or presidential regime can attest. The real complaint here is that President Trump is not treating the corporate media, which openly campaigned for his opponent in the 2024 election and spread the Russia-collusion hoax without evidence during his first regime in an attempt to destroy and discredit his presidency, with kid gloves anymore. As my mom used to say, they can dish it out but they can’t take it, and absolutely nobody cares about their injured pride.
