The GOP's Secret Weapon to Bring Down Trump
It's an interesting turn of events to see the Republican establishment so terrified of Donald Trump winning the Republican nomination that they're turning to Mitt Romney in a last ditch effort to bring him down. That's right, Mitt Romney, the single worst candidate they could have possibly chosen to run against Obamacare in 2012, and the man who was only able to bring two states back into the Republican fold after four years of Obama.
Romney will be speaking at the University of Utah this morning on the presidential race, but really it will be nothing more than an excuse to attack Trump. The former governor has been increasingly critical of Trump over the past few weeks, and this speech will absolutely be another platform for further attacks and possibly an endorsement for one of Trump's opponents.
Representative Justin Amash says that the only way Mitt Romney could hurt Trump is if he actually endorsed Trump, but I don't think this is true. A Romney endorsement would be a non-issue for Trump supporters the same way Chris Christie's endorsement was a non-issue. In other words, there's no way Romney can hurt Trump.
It's simply hilarious to see Republicans in such a scramble to stop Trump that they turn to a man who perfectly embodies the GOP establishment, as if that is somehow what they've been lacking up to this point. The logic that says, "Oh, Marco Rubio just wasn't establishment enough," is simply no logic at all. The desperation that hits these brain dead boobs after Romney fails worse than his 2012 presidential run will be an amazing sight to see.
